I will be in Maui the first week of March and I%26#39;m looking to do the Haleakala bike ride. Looking for advice from anybody that may have done it in the past.
1)Should I book it in advance or wait until I%26#39;m there to ensure that the weather is cooperating?
2)Is it worth it to do the sunrise tour or should I just take the later tour?
3)I%26#39;m considering booking with Haleakala Bike Co. as I like the idea of being able to go at my own pace.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Haleakala Bike Ride Advice
We did the sunrise and it was spectacular. We are very glad we did even though we had to get up so early.
We also did it with Haleakala Bike Co-Highly our own pace. And the equipment was newer and in great shape.
We pre-booked before we left but whether that is truly neccessary or not I don%26#39;t know. maybe someone will have a better answer for that question.
Haleakala Bike Ride Advice
Just got back. We used the Haleakala Bike Company. We had gone on an organized trip the last time and it was good to do it by ourselves this time. Their bikes were good. The people were great except for the very obnoxious manager who kept us waiting for an additional hour for 4 people who were late could join the rest of us (75 plus) who had woken up early and was there on time. Then he went on the state that we should chill since this was Hawaii and an hour wait is no big deal and that we should think of this as a Griswold Christmas. The concept of keeping 75 people waiting who had showed up on time for 4 people that had overslept is bad business and being obnoxious to other 75 will not make people go back. The guy that drove the van said that the manager is a good friend of the owner and is frequently obnoxious to customers. I would find another company that allows you to ride at your pace and avoid this group.
