Teacher spending summer in hawaii

I am a 22 year old teacher thinking about spending part of my summer in Hawaii. This would be from about the middle of June through the beginning/middle of August.

I live in the suburbs of Chicago. I have been to Oahu a couple of years ago with my family. I would want to live in a city area.

Right now, I have no plans. I don%26#39;t know what I want to do, where I would live for that amount of time, or costs (I do know it%26#39;s quite expensive).

What do you all think? Is it realistic?

Sorry I don%26#39;t have any advice for you--I just wanted to say how jealous I am! To be 22 and in the position to spend that much time in Hawaii. Go for it--you may never be in a position to do it again!

Just make sure you are safe, especially if you are going alone.

this is kinda off topic but when I was in Waikiki couple weeks ago, our tour guide was telling us there is a shortage of teachers and they were very good benefits packages to bring more in(IE first time home buyers, etc) so check into that while you are there! A small studio off Kuhio Ave in Waikiki though was pointed out to us and the going rate was $900. It looked kinda shabby too.

i was in oahu last may.

It is a great place to live in. Planning to

live there.

Chicago has a brutal winter. you know the rest.

look up craigslist.org, at honolulu site, you

may find some decent housing.

honolulu.craiglist.org

hope this helps.

I concur with ycl advise.

Places here are not that big is size or

curb appeal at least in Mainland think.

If you can forgo a 500 hundred sq feet

bath ( just a comparison item LOL) and

adjust to smaller sq feet in general

you will do OK.

since you are staying over 30 days look for month/month places which will be much cheaper than daily hotels. I know places such as the hawiian monarch will have very small studio rentals in the range of $1000/ month. Waikiki is really not that expensive

Ok, after thinking it over...I am going to move there for 2 months with my boyfriend.

What is a good area to move for us considering this:

- I want to feel safe

- I want someplace where we can go out for dinner/drinks and not worry about a long taxi/bike ride or walk

-We will not be renting a car (maybe for a short amount of time.)

-We want to spend about $2000/month for a one bedroom with a kitchen.

We wont be working, we just want to hang out and surf

Realistically, is this too much to ask for?

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!! :)
