Going to Kauai for honeymoon this march. Help please?

I have been looking at the Hanalei Colony, and the Hanalei Bay, but cant make up my mind. I want something secluded and away from it all. It will be expensive, but im trying to save a little money.... Going to be there for 5-7 days, planning on:

Renting a convertible

Helicopter Trip

Whale Watching

Hiking

Luau (decided on Princeville)

What are yall%26#39;s suggestions?

Any help is appreciated

(Do you suggest I book everything or have AAA do it?)

I am also considering the Hale Makai and the Sealodge also. I want something that is an idividual hut type unit.

If you were going longer...and didn%26#39;t have your heart set on just Kauai...(i.e. going to two different islands for your honeymoon....)I would suggest that you look into the Kona Village Resort on BI. It has the individual type huts (modeled after the bures in Polynesia) that you are looking for....and it is one of the few...if not the only All-Inclusives in Hawaii....

You might want to take at look at this property....:)

Good Luck:)

Unless you hate doing it, I would recommend booking everything yourself. You can do most of it toll free (and talk to a real person) or over the internet, and send any questions by email that you might have.

Haven%26#39;t stayed in the north, so can%26#39;t comment on your choice of accommodation.

Helicopter, as you%26#39;ve probably seen from other posts, highly recommended is interisland where they fly with the doors off. It was the highlight of my husbands trip (I didn%26#39;t go, chicken that I am)

Definitely rent the convertible--we considered it well worth the extra expense.

Have fun!

Aloha! Well, since you said you wanted secluded and away from it, I would stick to the north shore (Hanalei/Haena/Princeville, etc)and it%26#39;s stunningly gorgeous there. I think you could book things yourself - it would certainly be cheaper - esp. when surfing the net for deals. :) Here are a few other places you can look for lodging that might better fit your budget: http://www.kauai-vacation-rentals.org/ This places specializes in honeymooners. :) Also: http://www.kauaivacationresorts.com/

vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/hawaii/kauai Kauai has lots to chose from for accommodations, and then you can go eat where ever you want! The rest of your plans sound great . . . congrats and have a wonderful time! :)

Here is what I ';think'; I have decided on. Let me know if its ok on the prices?

6 Days, 6 Nights

$1,110 Sealodge Resort

$1,579 Round Trip from LAX including 6 day convertible rental (using Southwest passes to fly into LAX)

$2,689 total before expenditures, gas, food. Reasonable?

Also plan on going to:

Arrive Sunday evening

Luau Monday night

Boat excursion/whale watching Tuesday

Horseback tour Weds (from TX :D )

Thursday, relax and go where we want(most likely do some hiking)

Helicopter on Friday

Sadly, leave Saturday

That airfare sounds pretty high for March, but you%26#39;re leaving and departing on the weekend - no savings there. And it includes a car. What are your dates in March? What airline out of LAX? Is the flight on Southwest using miles so no cost?

Also, I thought Sealodge was less than about $185 per night. I guess it depends on which unit, but I%26#39;ve seen people talk about $100 per night or less.

It was 150 a night for the room x 6 = 900. How it got to 1110? They said cleaning rates and taxes....

The cost of just the airfare (LAX to Honolulu on United, then Honolulu to Kauai Hawaii airlines, and same thing back)

The Southwest are free. I have saved tickets on those.

Meant to say:

The cost of just the airfare is 1210, the car is $369...

Don%26#39;t know what your exact dates are in March, but I plugged in 3/5 returning 3/11 on Hawaiian Airlines and came up with $936.60 with taxes for 2 people. The problem might be that those flights leave LAX at 8:30am and you might have trouble getting there that early? If you were able to change your dates slightly and travel mid-week, the price comes down to $194 each way for a total of $836.60, and there is a 10:15am flight on certain days.

For a car, you can almost certainly do better, unless you%26#39;re renting a Jeep or luxury car!

Good luck !!
