How crowded is maui in early February?

We have always gone to maui during the off season (Nov-Dec)I was just told that I will have to fight off the crowds in early February,The beaches are cloged with people That the activitys are booked up, and It%26#39;s hard to get into a good resturant.....is this true, or is my friend just messin with me????

It is the peak of the Whale season and there is a whale festival in mid-Feb. but I have been there and it wasn%26#39;t particularly more crowded than usual.

Lots of snowbirds are here in Feb. They aren%26#39;t out doing activites every day like the families in the summer. Beaches clogged with people? lol

the only place that was busy - was road to hana - every time we were close to waterfall - all parking spots and road side were taken, so we really had to keep going and were only able to stop at 1 waterfall.

Although March was atypically strong in 2005, Feburary is consistently the busiest month in tourism for Hawaii...throughout the State.

So, yes, statistically it will be more crowded. You can check out the figures on the DBEDT website under ';visitor statistics';.

But will you notice the difference on Maui? Not too likely; but being the theoretical ';high'; season, occupancy is tighter for rooms, cars and tours, and prices can be stiffer.

However, Maui is so busy all the time now, it has lost most of the ';seasonality'; in pricing and availability that it used to have in the old days.

February seems to be busy due to the exposure of Hawaii on TV during late December/January (bowl games, golf tourneys, etc...) coupled with low mainland temps.

Oahu, due to the pro bowl and greater seasonality fluctuations, is the one island where it is noticeably more crowded in February.

Feb is the spring break time for both universities and highschools in Canada - so lots of us are coming down to escape the -30/40 weather.

spring break is in March in British Columbia

we have visited Maui at various times..November, December, January, February and July (way too hot!!). The volume of people in Dec, Jan and Feb on Kaanapali seemed to be the same to us.
