Hawaiidan, I was thinking about staying a couple of nights at Waianuhea which is in the Waipo area, however, am rethinking the idea if the locals aren%26#39;t that friendly according to a few of your earlier posts. My original idea is to fly into Hilo, stay a night, then up to Waianuhea for a couple of nights, then around for a few nights on the Kona side, then on to somewhere in the Volcano area for a couple of nights, and then back to Hilo. Do you think that%26#39;s a good plan?
Thanks!
Hawaiidan Advice
No,
The Eastern side of the island is the windy, stormy area.... The Locals there are a mixed bag with many not happy to see visitors....Some are downright scary folks.
I have friends who are cops here and they are not big on this area.... But it is wild and out there. If you want seclusion this might be the ticket...and it is a long way from anythting .
There are very few services or supplies..
There are no swimming beaches and the surf is scary. It is good to visit for a day.
Volcano is also cold and rainy but the area welcomes vistors more so, and is not as isolated.
