I have heard there was an area in the Honolulu airport where you could shower/rest/sleep while waiting for your flight. Kind of like a ';mini-hotel'; in the airport.
Anyone know if this still exists? I can%26#39;t seem to find a link for the airport.
Thanks in advance :)
';Sleeping'; area/hotel in the Honolulu airport??
I used it in 2001 on my way to Australia. Had a 12 hr. layover from Chicago-HNL flight, and conx to Qantas to SYD. It%26#39;s nothing special, but clean. ';Bedroom'; is teeny-tiny, but the bath/shower are ample. I was in Hawaii in Feb., didn%26#39;t look for it, but there is a whole bunch of construction going on inside the terminals. I looked for the Space/Flight exhibit and that was Closed temporarily.
In 2001 it was $35 for over 6 hrs, and I think $25 for under 6.

This... I am dying to know, whether we have caught up to other airports in other countries in other continents (Hint hint America) that Do accomodate the traveler while at the airport, whether it be a long transfer wait-over, or an overnight stay in a small rental room at the airport...
I wrote an email to the airport information address I found on their website. Our flight doesn%26#39;t leave until 7 pm- we will be sandy and beachy and have an overnight 16 hour+ flight home so a shower before the plane sounded GREAT. Sadly, it is not to be :( This was their response
';In reply to the question you e-mailed to us, after the events of September, 2001, the Airport Mini Hotel was discontinued for security reasons and a planned renovation of the Main Lobby area of the airport. However, there are three hotels and a bed and shower facility (like a hostel) near the Honolulu International Airport that are available for brief overnight accommodations. The hotels next to airport all have complimentary pick-up and drop-off service from the airport terminals and can be contacted on the phone boards located in the baggage claim areas. The rates for a hotel room are approximately $100.00 per night although I suggest you check their websites or contact them for updated information as their prices varies according to seasonal factors or room specials (listed below are the e-mail addresses, websites and telephone numbers):
1. Honolulu Airport Hotel - gbdc@lava.net or info@honoluluairporthotel.com, website: http://www.honoluluairporthotel.com, Central Reservations Toll Free (800) 537-8483, U.S. and Canada Toll Free (800) 3477, telephone (808) 836-0661
2. Pacific Marina Inn - pacific_marina_inn2000@yahoo.com, website: http://www.castleresorts.com/PMI,telephone (808) 836-1131
3. The Plaza Hotel - (reached on their website) http://www.bestwesternhonolulu.com (click on Plaza Hotel), telephone (808) 836-3636
In addition, there is a hostel type facility near the airport that doesn%26#39;t provide pick-up or drop-off service to the airport terminal. They provide beds in cubicles and guests share shower and rest-room facilities:
4. The Shower Tree (Hostel) - OahuKim@aol.com or honolulukim@cs.com, website:http://www.showertree.com, telephone: (808) 833 - 1411
Their cost would be under $35.00 per person . The taxi fare would probably be around $10.00 round trip to the Hostel from the airport.
Please add a combined 11.42% excise and accommodation tax to the room rates of the hotels and hostels.
I hope this information will be helpful to you and please contact me if you have any other questions on this matter or on the Honolulu International Airport. ';
Sincerely,
