Special Event Restaurant from Lahaina to Kapalua

What%26#39;s your favorite special event restaurant between and including Lahaina and Kapalua? My wife will have a birthday while we are in Maui this summer. We%26#39;re staying at the Kapalua Bay Hotel.

We will be there with our three kids (extremely well-behaved, used to nice restaurants, my wife wouldn%26#39;t dream of celebrating her birthday without them). We already plan to eat at Sansei on a different night (sounds marvelous, but is it ';special';?). We%26#39;re doing Feast at Lele (just she and I) and Old Lahaina Luau (with the kids). She likes Pacific Fusion, fresh fish, nice view, and good desserts (oh wait, that%26#39;s me.)

I hear great things about the Banyan Tree restaurant at the Ritz Carlton, right next door!

Haven%26#39;t been but read only good reviews for the Seahouse restaurant at Napilli Bay. Supposedly great food and atmosphere for a nice sunset dinner. Maybe you check out their menu on line.

I just ate at the Sea House restaurant last week and the service was ok and the food took quite awhile to come out. However, the food, the atmosphere and the view were great. It is right on the beach and is opened up on the beach side. (Probably best to go around sunset) If you aren%26#39;t in a hurry I agree that this restaurant would be nice for a birthday. We didn%26#39;t mind that the food was slow since the atmosphere was so nice.

Hula Grill, main dining room. It has everything your looking for.

Have a great time.

Up until last week I would say that the Plantation House was the number one choice, but now that the Pineapple Grill has opened at Kapalua it has some competition. Pineapple Grill, located on the Bay Course and overlooking all of Kapalua is the brainchild of Chef Joey Macadangdang, formerly of Roy%26#39;s Kihei. The menu is terrific, heavy on the fusion, and everything we tasted was excellent. But did you say desserts? Oh boy! Lemongrass creme brulee, upsidedown pinepple cakes, liliko`i cheessecake, pineapple apple crisp and Roselani ice cream! Not that the Plantation House doesn%26#39;t hold it%26#39;s own with its chocolate mousse torte!

It would be hard for me to chose one over the other. I%26#39;d have to eat at both! Maybe breakfast or lunch at the Plantation House?

Sansei is always fun and can be special. Let them know when you make reservations. I will be anxious to try the Pineapple Grill. The Plantation House is GREAT for breakfast! David Paul%26#39;s is a wonderful experience. There is a wine and food event at the Kapalua Bay Hotel the first part of July.

I%26#39;ve always depended on the 2 Roy%26#39;s restaurants, Roy%26#39;s Grill and Roy%26#39;s Nicolina, located across each other on the 2nd floor of the Kahana Shopping Center (I think that%26#39;s what it%26#39;s called). It%26#39;s above a gallery, in the same complex as Outback Steakhouse and McD%26#39;s...Roy Yamaguchi is one of THE pioneers in Pacific Rim/Fusion cuisine, and if you haven%26#39;t been to any of his restaurants, you are in for a TREAT! We usually do ';tapas'; style...just order 2-3 appetizers per person from their daily and permanent menu, and share...everyone gets to try different dishes, and then we re-order the ones that we like. The Chocolate Souffle is made to order, and comes to you with MOLTEN CHOCOLATE inside, and crispy chocolate on the outside...SIMPLY BLISSFUL! Nicolina%26#39;s is a little more subdued, so when we%26#39;re with our kids, we opt for The Grill --- more casual, but still the awesome food and service that we%26#39;ve come to expect from Roy%26#39;s. Tell the hostess that it%26#39;s your wife%26#39;s birthday, and she%26#39;ll get a free dessert and special treatment! Oh, and the COFFEE at Roy%26#39;s is just fabulous...make sure to get a cup with dessert!

Sorry, Roy%26#39;s Nicolina closed more than a year ago. Reilly%26#39;s in that location now. But Roy%26#39;s Kahana and Roy%26#39;s Kihei are still on the island--I had Roy%26#39;s last night!

We thought the food, service, setting on Napili Bay, and atmosphere at the Sea House were all outstanding when we were there in April. Definitely recommend this restaurant.
