Hi,
My flight gets in at 7:06 pm in Delta terminal and the next flight out to Kauai is at 8:05 pm from Aloha at the Honolulu airport. Will an hour be enough to connect, will it help to not have any luggagues to check in?
I was thinking of just buying the tickets to try it out, and if I can%26#39;t make it just get the connecting flight, in the morning, but then I have to find a room and go through all of that and also a lady said there will be penalties if I miss my flight on Aloha, and also cancels out my return flight.
Any thoughts out there?
Thanks.
1 Hour conenction time from Delta- Aloha is it enough?
Try this link...I found it had all kind of good info about connecting times at the HNL airport

avj,
wintersummers link is the same info I was going to suggest--so I second the motion instead! When you check in in ATL, see if DL will check you bags all the way thru to your final destination. If so, unless the plane is really late, or you really dawdle, you should make it.
Cool site WinterSummer!
My Wife does Travel for a major international company (no names, but the place is full of travel whiners); forwarded to her and she%26#39;s taking me out to dinner!
Mahalo!
It might cost more, but buy one ticket instead of two tickets. If you buy two tickets and the plane from the mainland arrives late or any other reason you miss your connecting flight (this is the same anywhere in the world), both airlines will NOT be responsible to help you and you will pay much more money to book a new, connecting flight. The same goes for your return flights. If flights are delayed due to weather or due to ATC/FAA, the airlines are NOT responsible for hotels, food, phone calls, and other expenses, since who can control Mother Nature? When changing flights ask the agent meeting your flight for the connecting gate if they have it, so you waste little time going to the wrong gate. Mahalo nui loa (Hawaiian for thank you very much).
In addition to the above; don%26#39;t forget that most schedules have a fair amount of slack in them (to pad the ';on time performance record';). Been several years since we haven%26#39;t arrived HNL at least 15 minutes early. Also, last time we took the last flight to Kauai, it was Island Air and, that late, there%26#39;s a pretty good chance of a delayed departure.
On your return from Lihue, you might want to consider Hawaiian; they offer assigned seating on inter-island flights.
Oh, one more thing; might want to carry-on enough to compensate for possibility of your checked bags not arriving until next morning.
That%26#39;s right about carryons. Always carry anything that is important such as medicines, car and house keys, important papers such as reservation information, in your carryons in case your bags arrive late or a day or two later. Do NOT put film in checked bags unless it is digital. Bags can be delayed by TSA checking your bags (a cop from England did NOT like this blame being put on our security people but it is the truth) and also the bag belts break down so that is another reason, as well as the small commuter jets can hold only a limited amount of weight, so if overweight they will leave bags behind (fuel and passengers are more important).
Its not a big deal if you miss an interisland, they will just put you on the next flight and they go often so I would be ok with an hour. What you need to be careful is to not cut the mainland flights too close.
My gut feeling and also personal experience is a ';no';.
You%26#39;ll have barely enough ';comfort time'; in getting off that Delta plane and getting to the Aloha boarding terminal.
Pack what you can%26#39;t daily live without and an extra set of clothes in your carry on... till you luggage shows up later trailing behind you on the following day at your hotel. Call Aloha and tell them ALL your flight info. and hotel info. and have them foward your luggage to your hotel. And not to be claimed at the airport by yourself the next day...
