It seems that more travellers are complaining of too much wind, but I don%26#39;t remember there being any more than a strong breeze or maybe some wind before a passing shower. There isn%26#39;t any planning for this is there??? I was there in Sept and had awesome weather, and next visit will be in June. any thoughts?
Is there actually a ';windy season';
Help me out here guys. I%26#39;m planning a wedding and want a long flowy veil, but I don%26#39;t want it wrapped around me like the tazmanian devil either!! although that would be funny!

The most windy time is usually going to be winter December through March. The southside in Wailea area is generally less windy than the West side Kannapali area. It is generally more windy in the early morning and picks up again late afternoon. Hope this helps.
With the constant increase in time share sales people, there is a lot more hot air flying around.
Hahaha, I wondered why it was so gusty near the Embassy Suites!
aloha Kelfish, there isn%26#39;t any way to predict the wind, to my knowledge. here on the Big Island the wind direction is well known; there are the tradewinds that blow from the northeast, then there are the Kona winds that blow from the southwest. the trades can blow -hard. whereas the Kona winds are less strong, but typically bring more humidity (and vog). but predicting when, and the wind velocity can%26#39;t be done.
maybe someone from Maui can add more wisdom about wind/weather patterns there?
kelfish, some more thoughts; hawaiian weddings are typically held at sunset. winds can pick up at sunset briefly due to atmospheric cooling.
try to find a spot for the wedding that%26#39;s protected from wind, if possible.
congratulations!
:-)
If you are worried about the wind I would plan a morning wedding as the wind seems to pick up in the afternoon. But the trade winds can be unpredictable so plan accordingly.
thanks all! we are in the planning stages and since everything is so unpredictable with the weather, I just wanted to get some experienced maui opinions. i guess i would rather have wind than rain, but both are possible.
I watched an evening wedding this past week and the trades were around 25 mph - veils and dresses were blowing everywhere. I agree with Hula, plan it for the morning and you should be fine.
