We%26#39;re arriving Lahaina on NCL Wind cruise ship on Sept. 1/05, 8am - 9pm, and will be renting a van to drive round island for the roald to Hana trip.
Have heard about CD from Shell gas station, or tape from Boss Frog%26#39;s, that are helpful in explaining the trip.
Can you share the experience using the Shell CD or the Boss Frog%26#39;s tape? Also, where would be the best location to buy the CD or tape? We booked a van, to be picked up near the airport.
Thanks a lot
Road to Hana CD/tape, Boss Frog's or Shell
You can also buy one at just about every ';ABC'; store
We like the CD, it is helpful...
Road to Hana CD/tape, Boss Frog's or Shell
Buy which one at the ABC store? Both?
Sorry I havent%26#39; been to Lahaina, are there many ABC stores visible from the road from where we get the rental van, and then driving to Hana?
';ABC'; stores are plentiful in Maui. Yes, there is an ';ABC'; store in downtown Lahaina. I would say in the center of town. When you refer to both, I assume you mean CD/cassette. This would all depend on whether you have a CD or cassette player in your vehicle.
Just checked again and found out both are CDs. In the web site at first they referred the Boss Frog tape, but later it says CD.
I called Boss Frog, and they said it is a different CD than what is available from the Shell gas station. The one from Shell is supposed to be $20, but gives you $7 coupon for something (ice box?!), whereas the Boss Frog CD is $10.
Both CDs are supposed to explain the trip to Hana. I%26#39;ve seen a few posts where people (tourists) refer to the CD from Shell (probably because they all stopped at Shell to fill up before starting the trip to Hana). They all said it%26#39;s good, but haven%26#39;t heard any comments on the Boss Frog CD yet.
We had the Boss Frog CD and really enjoyed the little factiods (and the voice was very pleasant). We didn%26#39;t use it for stopping much, since we had our ever faithful Maui Revealed book with us - but I would recomment it just for the little stories we heard along the way.
Neither! Get ';On the Road Again,'; with Uncle Boy Kanai and Captain Aloha. Between amusing and informative bits on the stops along the way, you will be entertained with songs by local artsists like Marty Dread, Joe Cano and Kanekoa. I don%26#39;t know abut the Boss Frog cd, but ';On the Road Again'; blows away the Hana Highway CD they sell at the shell. I have both at the house for visitors and ';On the Raod Again'; is everyone%26#39;s hand%26#39;s down favorite.
You can buy it at the Hana Bay Juice Company store in Pa`ia, or at Long%26#39;s, Hilo Hattie%26#39;s, ABC, other places too.
We had Boss Frogs. Nice for area background and interesting stories as you travel the road, but not for pointing out where to stop. I would say this CD and Maui Revealed complement each other well, the book on where to go, the CD with the narrative.
