Best Luau

Hi, I Am planning a trip for September for my honeymoon and am interested in going to a luau. If anyone has some suggestions as to which ones are the best and offer the greatest hawaiian experience and prices would be very beneficial. I would greatly appreciate any information offered up. Thanks.

Best Luau

When I went in July.....we went to the Paradise Cove Luau....you have the option of getting on a tour bus to take you there or driving yourself. #1....don%26#39;t go to this luau during the week...as you will be sitting in traffic on the way there. #2 if you don%26#39;t get a good tour guy on your bus....you will be bored and miserable the whole way there and back.....they are suppose to make those rides fun....our%26#39;s was not! IF I ever went to a luau again I would drive! The Paradise Cove Luau...was OK....the activities....hummmmmm....lot%26#39;s to do....location....gorgeous...great place to take pictures....the food...GREAT....the show...good....but like I said...its not something I probably do twice!

Best Luau

My wife and I went to the PCC luau and enjoyed alot, as the post said a good guide can make a difference. At the Cultural Center you get a glimspe of life on other islands of Polynesia. I%26#39;m not sure about the prices as they have three tiers to choose from, but you should be able to find that on their website. As far as which one is better from what we%26#39;ve read, we haven%26#39;t been to Paradise Cove yet. They may have a slight edge being by the ocean.

The Polynesian Cultural Center is great for a LOT of reasons . . . . . but in my opinion, their ';luau'; unfortunately isn%26#39;t one of them - compared to a more ';traditional'; luau. However, its certainly OK, and when you combine it with everything else the PCC has to offer, you probably won%26#39;t notice.

Before their version of a luau, you get to experience and learn a lot about polynesian history and traditions. I%26#39;d recommend planning 3-4 hours for this. That evening they put on a really great show.

The price is right at the PCC considering it is a full day%26#39;s experience.

Is the Royal Hawaiian Luau just as good as the Luau%26#39;s at Paradise Cove and Polynesian Cultural Centre? If you had to recommend one, which would it be and why?

Jumpin Jaxon: I hesitate to call the meal at the Polynesian Cultural Center to be a true Luau. They do serve Hawaiian food, and they do have some entertainment, but it all seems more commercial somehow. Maybe its the stadium style seating or something. I wouldn%26#39;t go there there ';just'; for the luau.

What makes the PCC so good is that you can spend the afternoon there before the meal experiencing a lot of the polynesian culture. And after the meal, they put on a (separate) fantastic evening show.

If you haven%26#39;t been to the PCC before, you definately should go. Its beautiful, interesting, and fun. It%26#39;s not cheap, but it is a good value. The Luau and the evening show are priced separate from the other activities although packages are available.

While you%26#39;re there, you might as well attend the Luau in order to eat and to kill time before the evening show, which should not be missed (they also have a more ';cafeteria style'; eating facility).

All in all it is a great experience. I would suggest though that you might want to do another (different) luau if you get the chance, just to feel the difference. Either of the other two will do that for you.

Enjoy!

I would like to hear more about the luau at the Royal Hawaiian. Anybody have any info on this one? Thanks.

grunt noted that the prices are different from the activities and the luau??? We paid a set price for each of us and did all of the activities (lei making, arrow throwing etc) BUT,,,I have to honestly say this was not a good luau. We were so bored and falling asleep. All they did was push the expensive drinks and then said time for desert but you had to pay for it. Food was horrible. I used to live in Hawaii and have been to a couple luaus and sorry to say, this was not fun. Only good thing was the young kids enjoyed the activities and the show, but as an adult..I would suggest trying another luau.

(do a search and you will find reviews also.)

ps: bring a sweater! it gets cold there.

I am sorry, I never said the luau I am referring to duhhhh

Paradise Cove

Royal Hawaiian luau was very nice. It was well run and the show was good. I took my 12 year old daughter last year and had a great time. Staff was awesome and the view of the beach great.
