Kauai

That is a relief to know it wont be too crazy with spring break teens. We are game for just about anything. We enjoyed the Zodiak raft rides when we were there last time. We like good food and pretty scenery and my daughter loves animals. I like to relax, my husband would like to try the rides where you swing thru the jungles. I like to be away from the crowds but see the beauty. Any suggestions on where to eat and what to see and do.

Jerry, you don%26#39;t have to make a new post to continue with questions, just respond to this one to keep the thread going.

Did you explore the north shore beaches last time? My favorites are Anini, which tends not to be too crowded, and Ke%26#39;e, which can be moderately crowded, but I%26#39;ve never found it too bad. Both have calm water for swimming, OK snorkeling, nice sand, shade and facilities. Ke%26#39;e is at the trailhead for the Kalalau, good if you%26#39;re up for some strenuous hiking. You can take lessons in sailboarding and kiteboarding at Anini.

Don%26#39;t miss Kilauea light and marine preserve. Try Moloa%26#39;a Bay. If you go early in the morning you *might* find one of the very limited parking spaces. Likewise, Tunnels Beach. Kalihiwai Beach can be nice, but I%26#39;m not sure there are any facilities there.

Without knowing how mobile you might want to be I haven%26#39;t gone into anything on the east, south or west. You should get a copy of Ultimate Kaua%26#39;i Revealed, then ask for specifics here.

Is this the right thread. I am kind of new to this site or at least posting to it. We will rent a car so we are very mobile.

Just continue with this thread.

Unless you are trying to get information on a new subject the procedure is to use the ';reply to this message'; button and keep related messages under the original topic, as pointed out.

Re the ';swing through the jungle'; if that relates to doing a zip line adventure, similar to what was shown on some episodes of The Amazing Race, then you are in luck. There are at least 2 such businesses in Kauai, and possably 3. I did a write up and put a link to an on line photo album that pretty much explains what to expect, how it%26#39;s done etc. It was a very enjoyable time, and something I can recomend that most people in good health could do. It was not scary, nor did it require extra muscle work, you are fully supported by a harness, not your arms. I think it was titled ';trip report, Backcountry Adventures Zip Line Adventure'; or something very similar to that. If you use the search function just over the messages you should be able to locate it %26amp; possably some others.

This one has a reply button but pzp there is not a reply button to reply to only post a new topic. Thanks for the info. Zip line sounds fun if it is not scary and the 9 yr old can go. Also the recommended beaches. Any great places to eat you could suggest? Also places to see animals?

At the Backcountry Adventures zip line adventure the minimum age was 15, so I suspect others will have a similar policy.

Our 7 and 8 year old boys zip-lined in Puerto Vallarta this past summer and loved it. They are well travelled kids and adventurous - ride motorcycles, 4-wheelers and fly in small planes with me, so maybe not average in terms of experiences. Longest/highest line was 1/4 mile and 400 feet above a canyon.
