Snorkeling ONLY

Hi,

I have tentative schedule that I have but mostly I am planning to goto Oahu for snorkeling.

Can anyone tell me if I can go all over the island during March 6-12 and go snorkeling? I am planning East, West, South and North. South for Haunauma Bay, North for Shark%26#39;s Cove and Three Tables? East for Chinamen Island or Kae ohe disappering island. West for Yokohoma? and Kaena Point?

I wonder how the waves are and the weather. Below is my schedule and I have combined with others so it might sound weird.

Please let me know how these sounds and let me know if I should make any changes.

I want to thank you all for reading!

Day 1 3/6 Monday: Arrive 5pm, Pick up rental car,

Check in Celebrity Resort, I just made the reservation for you from

Pick up food and goto Waikiki beach and eat dinner.

We also went to Kuhio Beach which is in the heart of Waikiki. We were there at the right time to see hula dancers. A torch lighting ceremony and dancers are here every night at 6:30.

Waikiki Beach Torch light ceremony (where on the beach?)

.. anywhere on the beach from Duke’s Statue

Goto Walmart or Costco and shop for food/drinks/snacks

Come back to the Resort and rest/sleep early

Day 2 3/7 Tuesday: Wake up early and drive through breakfast.

WAIKIKI - PALI LOOKOUT - KAILUA BEACH PARK - LANIKAI

Watch the morning sunrise at the east beach, (Lanikai Beach?)

LA’IE POINT - The Cultural Center opens at 12:30p.m. daily and if you stay for the show at night you will be there until 9:00p.m. All day at the PCC. This place was worth the money. I wish I had known to spend more than just 1 day here. If you want to see everything this place has to offer you need at least 2 days. We had the luau dinner, along with the horizons show and the ice cream dessert. I think the dessert was a little too sweet. The show was really cool. You can’t use the flash on your camera during the show, but you can still film and take pictures. When you buy certain packages your pass is good for an extra 2 or 3 days. This place is also definitely worth the stop.

Day 3 3/8 Wednesday: 5 - 6am Snorkeling at Haunauma Bay (bring breakfast %26amp; snacks),

WAIKIKI - 72 -

Byodo Temple (Valley of the Temples) 8:30-4:30 $2 admission

I found the Byodo-In Temple, which is located in the Valley of the Temples on the way to the PCC.

You have to drive through a cemetery to reach it. It’s beautiful and so serene. It is definitely worth the trip. It cost $2 to enter the grounds of the temple.

Aloha Stadium Swapmeet. Shopping and souvenirs. (cheaper)

Day 4 3/9 Thursday:

Water fall trip?

Drive around the Island and look for good snorkeling spots. East and North side of Honolulu?

Deserted Island trip? Snorkel and swim to small islands.

Kailua Beach. Once there we%26#39;ll rent a kayak, and possibly head up to Kane%26#39;ohe Bay for the dissapearing island

KUALOA PARK (CHINAMAN HAT)

PUNALU’U BEACH PARK

LA’IE POINT

KAHUKU (SHRIMP TRUCKS) Lunch at Giovanni%26#39;s Shrimp Truck

Mai Tai Catamaran $34/pp 800-460-7975,

$29/pp thru activityworld.com @ Sunset

Day 5 3/10 Friday:

Drive around the Island and look for good snorkeling spots. West and North side of Honolulu?

When we stopped at Turtle Beach, we turned into little kids. ';Turtles!'; we yelled to each other as we saw rock-like shapes in the shallow water. I love the way they poke their heads out of the water like periscopes. :) We sat on the beach, ate some fruit, and watched the turtles and surfers.

We stopped by Sharks cove, just to look. I wish we had more time that morning to stop and snorkel there.

TANTALUS DRIVE ?

7:30 Fireworks at Royal Hawaiian,

Day 6 3/11 Saturday: Watch the morning sunrise? Eat?

International Market at closing (10pm). They get ruthless on dropping prices, jewelry vendors especially.

the international marketplace. It was pretty cool. You can haggle a little bit with the people. They also have a little place in the beginning of the market when a man hand carves tikis. I love handmade crafts or items from various places.

Aloha Stadium Swapmeet. Shopping and souvenirs. (cheaper)

Night Snorkeling at Haunauma Bay (10pm)?

Day 7 3/12 Sunday: Eat left overs.

Pack our bags, check out and goto the airport.

Aloha!!!!!!!!!!

Snorkeling ONLY

Haunama Bay is good snorkeling - just be sure to go early in the morning. Don%26#39; think you will be snorkeling Shark%26#39;s Cove (or anyplace else on the North shore...)during that time though. Big waves! We were there the same week in March %26#39;05 and there is no way you could snorkel there as the waves were huge.

Snorkeling ONLY

so I won%26#39;t be able to Snorkel anywhere else on the island other than Haunauma Bay?

I didn%26#39;t know that, if that was the case, I would have planned it for August or some summer months.

So disappointed... =(

There are several good places along the east coast to snorkel.

Summer months would have only been better for North and West shores....winter months for the south and east. But, that%26#39;s as a general rule. Not set in stone. It is very hard to say what the ocean will be doing on any given day. You could possibly find a calm North Shore spot. Not all beaches and breaks get the waves at the same time. Some will break and be huge while others won%26#39;t So, don%26#39;t be disapointed...there will still be plenty of places for you to explore!

We snorkled at San Suci, a little ways down from Waikki and saw a great number of fish. There werent as many big fish as there were at Hanauma Bay, but there were still a ton of fish. Also, you can snorkle at the Turtle Bay resort (on the North Shore) and see some fish there too. Both places are better in the morning or the afternoon, before the swimmers come out and scare the fishies away.

does this mean I might be able to goto North during March?

I do want to go when not many people are there but I do want some people so I won%26#39;t be too scared.

Can I goto Eletric bay?? during March?

What are my chances for North and West side?

Can you give me like 50% or 25%?

I really want to goto each side since I think I can live on water with fishes everyday.

thanks! =)

Electric beach can be pretty rough at times. I don%26#39;t remember there being snorkeling there, but it%26#39;s been a while.

It%26#39;s possible to snorkel electric beach..but when we were there at the end of March %26#39;04; conditions were still pretty dicy. Conditions change all the time, even in the winter, maybe sonebody knows of a site to direct kaesan to re: current water conditions.

you will be able to go to Turtle Bay on the north no problem...we had 20ft waves on the north shore the day we went there...there is a barrier that protects the litttle bay. Its not the best snorkling, but it is a good beginer area for someone who wants to go on the north shore.

I snorkelled at turtle bay just last month when the waves were big, and it was fine. The clarity wasn%26#39;t as good as Hanuama bay, but I did see some very cool fish, and a few octopus there which was very cool.
