Ultralight trike vs. helicopter ride

I am going to Kauai next week. Currently I have both a helicopter ride booked and a trike ride (birds in paradise). I am very excited about both. But I am wondering if it is worth it to go on both? Will I see most of the same stuff on an hour and a half Trike ride that I will see on a helicopter ride? I would think the Trike ride would be cooler if we see the same stuff. I%26#39;d really like some opinions.....has anyone out there done BOTH? Is it worth it to do both (considering the cost), or should I just do one of them? Thanks!

Also, any recommendations on good hale watching tours/snorkling would be great. We%26#39;re staying at the Marriot Waiohai in Poipu.

Some of the best snorkeling I%26#39;ve found is right off Lawai (Beach House) Beach. It%26#39;s just a little teeny beach right next to the Beach House restaurant. Be sure to swim out almost to the breakers.

You can snorkel all day, clean up in the restrooms across the street, watch the sunset from the Beach House lawn, then have dinner at Beach House. (You probably won%26#39;t be able to get sunset seating at BH at this point.)

Aloha Lianalie,

If you do the BIP Trike, PLEASE update here!

Mahalo,

We did the Birds in Paradise flight in 2003--the pilot is very experienced and very safe. My husband is a hang-glider pilot so this was a must do for him. We didn%26#39;t take a helicopter flight on Kauai, so I can%26#39;t compare directly, but we did take heli tours on Maui %26amp; Big Island. The trike is definitely gives you more bang for the buck, since the wind is right on your face. The helmets have mikes, so you can talk to the pilot during flight.

I went first, and we flew toward the Waimea canyon area. My husband%26#39;s flight went in the opposite direction, so that we both saw different things.

He also offers a longer tour along the na pali coast. We were staying at the Princeville and saw him turn around over Hanalei Bay (he takes off from a small airport on the Southwest side of the island-can%26#39;t remember the exact name but it%26#39;s by the park with the salt ponds).

Have fun!

Sounds really cool jb; Mahalo!

The only question now is; will it be worth the money if I spend 90+% of the flight with my peepers squeezed shut...and will the Pilot get hacked-off at my non stop screaming?

Thanks, everyone. I did call the owner of birdsinparadise.com and asked him if we would see the same sites that I will see in the helicopter. He said yes, but the difference is we%26#39;ll get to see it flying 10 ft from the beach or thousands of feet in the air.....however I want it. So my boyfriend and I decided to cancel the heli ride, and take the hour and a half trike ride ($270) instead of the hour trike ride ($190). He said we would definitely get to see the whole island (weather permitting) on the hour and a half one. It sounds like we%26#39;ll also be able to take over every once in a while and ';fly'; the go-cart with wings (as I call it). I can%26#39;t wait.....I%26#39;m so excited about it. Now I just hope the weather holds out and nothing gets cancelled. I%26#39;ll make sure to update you all and let you know how it goes. Thanks!
