Maui Hawaiian Shirts

Ok there are cheeze Hawaiian shirts and not so cheeze Hawaiian shirts and then there are good Hawaiian shirts how do I tell the difference? Most of what I wear everyday is cheeze. Don%26#39;t really worry about it plowing the back 40.

I think you should wear what you feel good in, for me I can tell if shirt is a good one or not by the kind of fabric that the shirt is made out of (I went to the Fashion Institute so I have radar for good fabric). My husband favors Tommy Bahama and they are not cheesy.

Jeeper,

I%26#39;ve told the story before on this forum about the shirt my husband bought on our honeymoon. It was upwards of $70 and I couldn%26#39;t believe he was going to spend that on a Hawaiian shirt. However, I was quickly informed by the saleslady that this one had -REAL- coconut buttons. I still chidded my husband a bit (all in fun, really) but I quickly had to eat crow when he walked out of the store with the shirt on and a passerby said, ';cool shirt!'; Later that night, in Lahaina, someone said, ';Does that shirt have those real coconut buttons? Cool!';

I guess if it has real coconut buttons, it%26#39;s not cheezy?! And truth-be-told, it is a pretty cool shirt. I think it was inspired by one Elvis wore in a movie... (and tell me who is cooler than Elvis?) ;-)

Yeah, Tommy Bahama can%26#39;t be cheezy. Not at those prices! If my husband spends $100+ on a shirt, it cannot be labeled as cheezy. It then becomes ';Fashion.'; (I learned this while shopping in New Yorks%26#39; fashion district last fall). Yes a $950 Prada shirt might look loud %26amp; obnoxious....but it%26#39;s Prada, it%26#39;s expensive, and it%26#39;s fashionable. Works for me! (not necessarily for my budget, though)

I agree - if you like it and it%26#39;s comfy, just wear it. Just don%26#39;t have your entire family dress in the same Hawaiian print.

I hate to say this and it drives my husband crazy when I do but..... ';you get what you pay for';.

I own a few ';Tommy Bahama'; signature shirts.

100% silk is like wearing nothing at all.

After wearing a Tommy Bahama shirt you will never go back to cheeeeze again.

I get one at Fathers Day and Birthday.

Reyn Spooner, Tori Richard and Kahala all make quality shirts but they ain%26#39;t cheap.

I like some Tommy Bahama but they have eased back on the colors and since I like the bright ones it usually leaves them out

My husband actually got a very cool one at the Hardrock Cafe the first year we went to Maui together. He wears it every trip and it%26#39;s so funny, the employees in the restaurant love it and want to know where he got it. It%26#39;s very light weight rayon. He loves it.

I like the natural colors. My everyday wear is black tee shirts and blue jeans. White shorty socks and baseball cap. Muck like the guys on Blue collar tv.

My husband has a Tommy Bahama shirt that%26#39;s black with some tropical foilage and cigars and those hats (what are they called? like a panama hat or something), it%26#39;s a good one. He also has several solids.

You are so right, Hula, when you say ';you get what you pay for';. We have learned the hard way on several occassions.

How do the Tommy Bahama shirts wash? I have shrunk rayon clothing so many times that I refuse to buy it now.
