Has anyone stayed there, or know anyone who has? I%26#39;ve read mixed reviews. The price is darn sure right, and it%26#39;s righ in Lahaina. As long as it%26#39;s clean and no bugs - I%26#39;m cool. We will be out and about most of the time except to cook a few meals, sleep and shower.
Anyone? Bueller??

Kitty,
I have a friend who has stayed there many, many times. He loves it, just request a room upstairs he say%26#39;s, because the one%26#39;s on the bottom can be a bit noisy. Also request one away from Hwy 30.
We we%26#39;re on Maui last month (May) and drove by the Islander a few times. It appears to be under constuction,,, you might ask if they are in the middle of remodeling, depending on when when your going of course.

we stayed there twice. it is reasonable and clean. 5.- per day to park the car. last time we got upgraded to a newly decorated one bedroom suite for an extra 20.-. we usually stay for 4 or 5 nights. it is close to the ferry back home. next time we want to stay at the makai inn, smaller and more personal.
Very handy location for sure if you want to be close to the activities in Lahaina. Very close to the main part of town but on a relatively quiet street - though as other have mentioned some of the units may pick up noise from nearby highway 30. Obviously not on the water, but the place looked looked a lot better than I%26#39;d imagined it would (I%26#39;d seen the hotel offered in the really cheap packages on the Costco Travel website etc). Don%26#39;t know what the inside is like, but as I mentioned, the outside looked pretty decent considering the cost. If I was on a tight budget, didn%26#39;t mind not being on water, and wanted to be near town, I%26#39;d consider it.

we rather spend the money at home depot and walmart than for sleeping. but for us it is not like for people who come for maui once a year for a vacation.
