Forum Rules

So all the removal of threads and complaints by one very cranky person, whose name shall remain anonymous (but we all know who it is) got me thinking about what the actual terms of use are.

According to the rules on Trip Advisor it says, ';The TripAdvisor web site may contain and allow its users to post reviews of their travel experiences, as well as general postings of messages in chat rooms, bulletin boards or other forums. If TripAdvisor provides such services, you expressly agree to use such services only to send messages and material that are appropriate and that are related to the topic of the particular forum.';

Maybe it is the budding attorney in me, but it does not expressly say, ';You may only discuss things relating to Maui in the Maui Forum and so on.'; This is not spelled out. In fact, it says ';as well as general postings';.

I think it stinks that someone is running around here acting like a third grader and tattleing on the teacher. The posts are never in poor tastes and are not inappropriate or obscene.

My observation is that the Maui Forum Room is a travel advisory board that has developed into it%26#39;s own community of people who love Maui. Like any other community, sometimes real life happans and the topic will stray a bit. But one could say that is a ';general posting.'; Obviously, most people here have the Aloha Spirit. But some behave more like grinch trying to steal it from the rest of us!

Perhaps I am reading the rules incorrectly. What do you all think?

littlelisa: did you say ';budding'; attorney? well, this ';bud%26#39;s'; not for any of us. The topics usually start at a Maui or Hawaii level and then go from there. all the topics can be stated as ';general'; and it wasn%26#39;t until somebuddy started the ';off-topic'; complaints that it became a problem. so...';buds'; off to you, thanks for the review.

Couldn%26#39;t have said it better, my dear!

I don%26#39;t read anything there about not having fun!

Maybe if we ignore him he will go away. Some of his posts on other forums....';50 is way too old to surf'; - where does he get this stuff???

I just don%26#39;t want to get involved in those other postings, Whats for lunch? And then like a thousand people answered. If we start posting there, others won%26#39;t ';get'; us. It just wouldn%26#39;t be the same.

I was just so mad at him I decided to look at what he was up to on other forums.

I agree hula. We at least say ';If you were on Maui today what would you eat for lunch and what kind of flops would you be wearing?'; I can%26#39;t believe you are leaving on Sat. It seems like time is really flying.

I saw what he was up to, he really has a superior attitude.

It%26#39;s referred to as an inferiority complex.

50 is way too old to surf? I%26#39;m not saying how old I am but, can I get my money back for the surf lesson I had?

Bud seems accomodating, Im sure he will give you a refund!
