If you have ever been to Hawaii before come here...Help!!!

We are planning to go to Hawaii early next year and were wondering what hotels are good to stay at that are closer (within a couple of blocks) from the beach, and that have a kitchenette. I have reservations right now at the Ohana Waikiki West, and wanted to get feedback...I normally stay at properties like Marriotts, and wanted to know is this the same in comparisson?

Also deep sea fishing, what company would you recommend?

I am planning to come in February and seen airfare from DC to HNL for $618 and wanted to know if that was a good price? If there are any other suggestions anyone has please let me know... Oh yea, last question...Would you all recommend that I see Maui too while I am there or can I save that for another visit....Is Oahu for 8 days too long?

If you have ever been to Hawaii before come here...Help!!!

We just returned from 9 days in Oahu and choose just to stay in Oahu - and we still didn%26#39;t have enough time. Definitely go to the North Shore and spend at least a day there - it%26#39;s VERY different from Waikiki and you%26#39;ll get a different feel at that side of the Island. We stayed at Breakers and it was quite nice - a kitchenette and a block and a half from the beach. Not sure if you are looking for more - they have a pool and the staff is friendly. $618 from DC sounds like a good price. We paid $672 from Newark. Good luck and Enjoy!

8 days is definitely not too long. We will be returning in September for 15 days having been before for 10 days. I still don%26#39;t expect to see everything that Oahu has to offer. We tend to alternate between lazy days and active days.

Take that airfare!!! I paid $635 in August 2004 having bought my tickets about 10 months in advance, so that is a very good price.

As for multiple islands, I found Oahu to be fun, but Maui (and Kauai) even better. There is nothing wrong with Oahu, but Waikiki is a big city and if you don%26#39;t get out to the other parts of the islands, you might not feel that you are in the tropics and paradise. Waikiki is great for the beach, restaurants, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, Chinatown and many other activities. We loved the North Shore and its quaint villages and great food.

The other islands, by comparison, felt like vacation to me, and while I would not have traded my time on Oahu, I would prefer the other islands on (hopefully) future trips.

We have stayed at the Ohana Waikiki West and loved it.

too long? not even! we were there for 2 weeks and wan NOT ready to leave....cant wait to go back. I have been to Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the big island....Oahu is the best for extended stays. Other islands i would get bored. They are all GREAT and you should see them and explore them all. However, Oahu is my favorite, and you can get a taste of it all on Oahu! HAVE FUN!! \%26#39;%26#39;%26#39;/

DEROHN, I just booked on delta out of DCA to ATL, HNL and back for 561.00 pp. Leaving in July 11, 2005, it seems those prices are only available leaving on Mondays. We live in Southern Md. and DH works in DC, so for the $100. pp savings we will fly from DC.

I%26#39;ve stayed at the Ohana Waikiki West several times they are NOT a Marriott -- I haven%26#39;t stayed there in the last few years. But in general I do like most of the Ohana chain of hotels.

It%26#39;s not a bad deal for your money and the beach is just a few blocks walk away. If you stay on the higher floors facing the ocean you can technically have an ';ocean view'; room :) Try and ask for one when you book. (11th floor used to be my fav).

That airfare is a great deal; however you may get a better deal booking air/hotel as a package.

Thank you all for your post...The information is greatly appreciated...Does anyone know how much island hopping usually runs? Should I book in advance or when I get to Oahu?

Island hopping Oahu to Maui cost me $69pp incl. tax about a month ago on Hawaiian Air. Sign up to their frequent flier program - you can do it right online and they will give you a FF# right then. I believe I got a better price because I had the FF#.

There are many flights to choose from each day and the prices for each time will come up when you put your dates in.

Hope this helps!

I stayed there once with 6 girlfriends for my graduation trip after high school a few years back. It was a very nice hotel and good size. RIGHT across the street from the marketplace which is awesome, and also decent short walk to the beach. I don%26#39;t see why you wouldn%26#39;t enjoy it. Not sure what kind of Marriot%26#39;s youve stayed at but I don%26#39;t know how much it will live up to one.
