From reading the posts it looks like the Southern side of Kauai would be the best place to stay in October. Am I right or wrong? We plan on the first week of October.
We plan on snorkling, hiking, eating, horseback riding (if I can convince the wife), and taking a helicopter ride. Might try the zip line if I can overcome my fear of heights.
Any suggestions on places to stay would be appreciated. I%26#39;m leaning towards a B%26amp;B or condo with beach access.
Aloha.

For the best shot at little or no rain you might want to consider the Poipu area. Not sure about B%26amp;B%26#39;s or condos as we stayed at the Embassy.
Towards the end of October the seas might get too rough on the back side of the island for snorkling but other than that October is a good time to go.
Kauai in October
In October you could still get away with staying on the north shore. It%26#39;s still plenty warm then, and it doesn%26#39;t get real rainy until Dec/Jan/Feb. The south or east sides will offer safer snorkeling and beach access the closer you get to winter. There are lots of places to stay in Poipu, Kapaa, and Wailua. You can take a look at VRBO.com if you want to check out condos, but you should also get a bunch of ideas hanging around this forum.
BrightonBill,
How was the Embassay on Kauai? We%26#39;re staying there the last week of September into October...

Check out Kuhio Shores -- there are a couple of management companies as well as many suites that are rented out by the individual owners. Look at the reviews on this site and you%26#39;ll see why they%26#39;re so great--so close to the ocean you can hear the waves all night. Can%26#39;t wait to go back for our third trip next Feb.
THere are also independant renters at Kauai Beach Villas between Kapaa and Lihue. THey%26#39;re the ones that Pahio hasn%26#39;t been able to buy up yet.
