Hello All...new here.
I grew up and still live in Massachusetts and I know this might not be a popular reply for some of you but I don%26#39;t think LittleLisa is too far off in her assessment of the way we New Englanders come across to many people.
I do feel that we, as a whole do tend to be quite blunt (I wouldn%26#39;t say RUDE, however) and abrasive when we talk. I think it%26#39;s mostly perspective. I work with the public and I%26#39;ve met many many people from all over the country and the general concensus is that New Englanders are a bit ';scary'; sometimes. It may be the accent, it may be just the way we are and I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s meant to be rude. I get told pretty much on a daily basis that people are shocked by how blunt I am and it%26#39;s been attributed to my New England roots many times. I don%26#39;t take offense to it. It is what it is.
New Englanders...RUDE??
And what is the point of this thread in the Hawaii section of Tripadvisor? Maybe you should post it in the Boston forum. I%26#39;d love to see how many responses you%26#39;d get.
New Englanders...RUDE??
Hi Dew, she is responding to a thread posted on the New England thread by someone frequenting both that encouraged New Englanders to respond to a Hawaii forum comment that new englanders were blunt and direct, related to all the brouhaha that recently passed. I think she is an innocent bystander! (me too!) ;o)
I know... I read the thread. I think she%26#39;s another poster probably familiar with us, personally. But... we all need to move on from this, and this thread is not helping. I mean, how would anyone from the south like it if I started a thread about southerns being as*-backwards? It%26#39;s just rude and not just.
perhaps we should consider this thread ';kapu'; - which means keep out, forbidden, etc. let%26#39;s not go there!
:-)
there is no such thing as a rude person. they just need to be broken in with persistent aloha.
well said halemalu
love the ';persistant aloha';
and I would rather be around a blunt to the point
Yankee New Englander than a stoic upper midwest area
___ person
