oh crap - no car rented

I am headed to maui in 7 days and have yet to book a car. I think I was holding out for some cinderella deal that never came.

What do you recommend at this point? Wait a little more and then hit priceline? Book something cheapo and try to upgrade? or still with the middle of the road intermediate sedan and live with it?

Thanks I need your help.

oh crap - no car rented

I really don%26#39;t think you are going to get any deals. Car rentals seem to run the same rate. Just don%26#39;t wait too much longer or you may not be able to get what you want. We almost waited too long to rent a van on Oahu. I had the vans reserved for Maui and BI, but hadn%26#39;t decided if we wanted one for Oahu. A month out and I had a hard time getting one.

oh crap - no car rented

Go to www.discounthawaiicarrentals.com and check out their deals right now. We rented a compact for $29.95 per day with a free upgrade if available., with Budget. Not the best deal, but better than the $260.00 per week Hertz wanted to charge us for the same thing. Check it out. You need a car. Now is not the time to be ultra-picky. Seems like a reasonable deal to me.

I 2nd lexigirl%26#39;s recommendation - - that%26#39;s who we have our cars booked through - - I compared prices %26amp; they are quite reasonable. Priceline is another good option though.

I also agree on discount hawaii car rental. We went to three islands in May and I checked all car deals and they beat everyone more than a few dollars. We had a Sebring convertible and it ended being with Thrifty who were fantastic with no waiting in lines. We had friends who had booked with Alamo and when they arrived in Maui, cancelled being the lines were so long. Do the booking with discount online and print out your reservation. That way, there is no confusion on the price when you get there. Hope this helps.

Ok step 1: book SOMETHING

recommend booking something as cheap and basic as you can tolerate. That way, come arrival you won%26#39;t be thumbing for the nearest bus or cab.

Step 2: wait a couple days and gather up yours and your wifey%26#39;s credit cards (or whoever you are travelling with) and start Pricelining. You may be surprised

Step 3: when you show up, see what they have in the lot. It is usually only a few bucks to upgrade once you get there.

Now, take a few deep breaths and enjoy your vacation.

Also, check on Costco%26#39;s website under travel, then click on rental cars. I usually book thru them, but I book 6 months to a year in advance. I have found that Budget is the cheapest for me. Good luck!!

I would definately check with priceline...and start out low. I was able to get a standard rental for $17 per day. Took my first request, so I probably could have gone a little lower even.
