maybe this is a stupid question, but it really has me wondering... everyone keeps saying to try the scoop of ice cream in the bottom of the shave ice when visiting Hawaii.
That just sounds like it would ruin the ice cream by watering it down, or ruin the shave ice - they just don%26#39;t seem like things you would typically blend.
So what DOES happen when you get the two? Does it taste like a fruity flavored ice creamy texture, a milky shave ice texture?
Is this a dumb question? (I guess I could just wait and try it when I get there, but I%26#39;m just really curious!
please explain the shave ice/ice cream relationship thing...
It%26#39;s a novelty dessert called Slush Float.
(Same as mixing Jamba Juice with vanilla ice cream.)
I remember first encountering this 3 decades ago when my Mom came running to me all excited with a gleam in her eye...
Only now I thorughly mix the two together and go for the brain freeze!
(It%26#39;s an excellent question!)

if you ever tasted a creamsicle where creamy vanilla taste and fruit comes together, the tastes are similar. my favorite shave ice is in haleiwa where their specialty is sweet azuki beans, vanilla ice cream and shave ice, a delicious local favorite.
ah! Ok, then. I can relate to creamsicle, cuz I%26#39;ve had one of those - never tried the jamba juice thingie (I probably should now).
so I guess I%26#39;ll just have to try it! (thanks!)
