Hula's boring trip report

Guys, I am telling you right now when we get back I will have nothing to report unless it happend on the beach or in a restauarant. We do nothing on Maui, we are the most boring Maui travelers ever. We lay, swim around and snorkel a bit, pound ourselves in the sand boogie boarding and of course eat and drink too much but that%26#39;s about it.

Hula's boring trip report

In my opinion that is what going to Hawaii is all about! Making fanny prints in the sand, swimming a little when it gets hot, eating (becuase you know calories DO NOT count when on vacation) and sleeping when appropriate.

Just let us know about the culinary delights. I am make my notes for my trip in May/June of next year.

Hula's boring trip report

Wow Hula! Where did you get a hold of my Itenerary?

That%26#39;s why I have nothing to report. Sleeping, reading, swimming, eating....that%26#39;s all folks!

Thats why I made no report. I thought I was the only one that wasn%26#39;t on the go nonstop!

thats what Maui is all about relaxing and doing what YOU like to do!

Island

Good, I don%26#39;t feel so bad now. littlelisa, hasn%26#39;t anyone told you that everything is fat and calorie free in Hawaii!

Hula, Geesh, dont lie to folks!! I mean, REALLY! Food is only calorie free in Maui if you eat it sitting down!

We fit right in there with the group that do very little.

A lot of people treat Maui like Disney Land and I suppose we did too for the first year or two. Then we found we enjoyed ourselves a lot more just relaxing.

Many is the morning that we get up, go for a walk, and during breakfast decide whether to do this or that. During dinner we are still deciding whether to do this or that and because of all the effort we expended not making a decision, we simply go to bed.

What a great life.

Hula - thanks for this thread. :-) I had only discovered this forum about a month before our trip so I was not a ';regular';.

Yet here I am, with our trip a month behind us(wistful sigh) and I keep coming back here when I get the chance. There%26#39;s something about Maui............... :-)

Anyway, I kept thinking, should I leave a trip report? This being our first trip to Maui there should be all kinds of things to report, right? Not really. Oh I could yammer on and on and ON about what an incredible time we had - I relive the memories a little bit each day and have put a few of our pictures in frames throughout the house so I can steal glances as I go about the mundane chores/activities of everyday real life.

But the fact is, our trip was really just about ';BEING'; on Maui. To all of those whose trips are still upcoming - I envy the HECK out of you! - and I advise you to heed some very wise advice that has been given on here from time to time: certainly plan activities that you really want to do, but be careful not to plan TOO MANY of your days. I took this to heart before our trip and only planned out two of our days. One was the Road to Hana and the other was a Molikini snorkeling trip. We enjoyed both very much but the rest of our days went pretty much like this:

7am - 11am Snorkeling-we first tried snorkeling the morning

after we arrived and we were GONERS!!! We

loved it so much, couldn%26#39;t get enough.

11am - 2pm showers for everyone, lunch on our beautiful

oceanfront lanai - after a morning of snorkeling

you just can%26#39;t beat a turkey and swiss sandwich,

chips and dip and a grape soda with lots of ice -

YUMMY!!!! lunch never tasted so good. Then a

cat nap or dip in the pool, whichever we felt like

2pm - 5-6pm driving around, shopping, enjoying the scenery,

taking pictures

6pm - 8pm Dinner/Drinks, enjoying the awesome sunsets!

8pm - ????? Moonlight strolling on the beach and off to bed

to be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the surf!

That was pretty much it and we wouldn%26#39;t have had it any other way. So there, I guess I%26#39;ve left a trip report after all. Sure, there are plenty of things we didn%26#39;t do but, hey, that%26#39;s what future trips are for right?

Can%26#39;t wait to go back!!!!

Maui420 thanks for your trip report, it sounds right up my alley. I figure after we do the maui half-marathon that will count as our exercise for the 10 days and so the rest of the time will be relaxation. I think I will also count any swimming or snorkling as working out too. Where did you stay at and did you like it?

hula40: you still have to report, because I am living through everyone else%26#39;s reports, even if it is just to say.....got new flops to match my board shorts, saw Clint in the KTA, found new shave ice stand next to Kahului Krispy Kreme, made ';Kaleakala prints'; in the sand 9 days out of 11, the weather was fine fine fine, and we had the BEST time. so....I%26#39;ll be waiting to hear. heavy sighhhh. Aloha hui hou.

maui240: enjoyed your report. exactly as I imagine it to be. can just see those fishies with you. feel the water, sand in places no sand should go but always does. I have been back since may 5 and it is so hard this time. (hard every time, but my trip had some glitches in the guise of someone I went with, next time I go alone) - now I am missing it even more than ever, if that is possible.

I am looking at airfares and condos now. back to Maui first chance I get the $$. I get a huge raise July 1, will show up in my July 25 paycheck, I%26#39;ll be booking for November probably.

thanks guys, keep it up. keeps me going and sane and going to work for 11 hour days.
