Hi - my white mainland butt does not know a good luau from a Moises Alou rookie card.
My understanding is that the Old Lahaina is THE luau in Maui. However, our trip is 10 days away with no reservation and the party is booked.
What are our options from this point?
Also, what will my vegetarian companion think of this luau? Will she be forced to eat the apple out of the rotating pig%26#39;s mouth? Will she be fine with Hawaii%26#39;s bounty of fruits and vegetables from the rich volcanic soil? Or is she going to need to smuggle in some granola bars from the hotel room?
Thanks very much!

Well Bo, it looks like Bo has helped you out, so will you still be needing help?
bo, Just had to laugh about your humor. You are a very funny person, makes me smile. Love the part about the apple in the pig%26#39;s mouth... Welcome to the boards and hope you have a great trip on the islands... Aloha...
Okay Bo let me help you out here. I would say by far my favorite Luau on Maui is the luau at the Marriott in Kaanapali. They have great entertainment including fire throwers and of course the Hula dancers (very good). The food is also very good as well are the drinks. Do not worry about your vegetarian friend. I am also a vegetarian and I had no problem eating at the luau. They have fruits and salads as well as rice, and bread, and desserts. As far as the meat they have the pig, steak, chicken, and fish. You can book the Marriott luau now or when you get there as they do not seem to sell out like the OLL. I recommend booking through Coconuts Activity Center. Also I recommend asking for the VIP seating at is about $10.00 more per person, but you are closest to the stage and first to eat and drink.
When you book through groups like the Coconuts Activity Center, are you required to sit through a timeshare presentation to receive the discounted tickets?
I have been to many luaus and the Old Lahaina is the best. They offer a true Hawaiian luau, others use a combo of Hawaiian and Polynesian. I find that if you call everyday around noon chances are you will be able to get tickets. I have done it twice and had success both times. There are plenty of vegetarian dishes so no smuggled granola is needed.
IMO OLL is kind of boring. I find it too traditional. I like a little more fun and and less traditional. As far as the question of if you book through Coconuts NO you do not have to sit through a timeshare presentation. They may offer you more of a discount if you do, but if they ask just say not interested and they will not push it.
I also need luau help.
First time to Hawaii/Maui in October. Want to go to OLL. Their website has tickets around $90 PP, but hawaiitravelnetwork.com/ has them for $63 PP. Does anyone know why there is such a discrepancy? Is this ';travelnetwork'; site legit?
Thnx
Froggi. I would seriously question that website. The average is $90 pp, and you will generally not find much of a discount on it. If you go to the website for Coconuts activity center you can get prices for multiple luaus and also brochures to see what they offer as far as entertainment, food, drinks etc. The website address is alohafrommaui.com. This website is very legit, I have used them many times.
We went to OLL in May. Setting was picture perfect. Food was ok but not for me. Show was wonderful. I booked three weeks before we arrived and ended setting very back table. However, when I was shopping, I saw an Expedia.fun booth and they told me they buy out the first rows of tables (where you sit) and they were a lot less than through OLL. We could have saved money plus had a better seat. They won%26#39;t tell you when you book with OLL where you will be sitting. I would check Expedia out.
