I am so ';homesick'; for Maui tonight. More so than ever! Lets try and steal away in somebody%26#39;s suitcase! I%26#39;m thinking that Hula will be taking one big bag for her Flipflops alone so we can dump it out and hide in there!

Wouldn%26#39;t it be cheaper just to ship ourselves to Hawaii in a box? I guess Hula is off packing. I am gonna miss that girl.

How do you get to Hawaii from Chico? Do you go through Sacramento or San Francisco? Just asking for somebody who%26#39;s coming to Kauai in October......thanks!

The flip flop thing is my fault. I forced her to buy many pairs. I myself brought 9 pairs with me to Maui. Had to have one for every occassion. Okay, I am sick. I admit it. If I were a woman, I would be in big trouble. I went to Robinsons May today, and oh my god they have a whole huge section with flops. Fancy, casual. You name it they had it. And cheap too!!! I would have had a whole suitcase full if I were a woman.

We use United miles so we fly out of Chico. Free parking and it takes 10 minutes to get home from the airport! Baggage claim is fast too. It is generally about $150-200 more for flights to Maui, which is worth it when you consider the drive to SF or Sacramento and parking, if there are only 1-2 passengers. Two flights per day out of Chico, around 6 am, and 2 pm and three flights in, noon, 5 pm and midnight (thereabouts). We can fly out on the 6 am flight and catch a flight from SF to Maui around 9-10 am, getting to Maui around 1 pm. I think you can connect to the Kauai flight easily too. Out of the 15 or so passengers on the flight back from SF to Chico last week, 4 were returning from Kauai!!!

There are less expensive (direct) flights out of Sacramento on Hawaiian and Aloha flies out of SF - maybe Sac too. If your friends have to drive to an airport I would suggest Sacramento.

They are looking at $700+ to puddle jump from Chico to SFO, then direct to Lihue. For $500, they could drive 90 minutes to Sacramento and fly to Honolulu on Hawaiian and connect there to Lihue. I say drive the 90 minutes! Besides, I like Hawaiian over United anyway....

Parking at Sacramento is pretty cheap, I think the long term is still only$8 per day. It is 1 hour and 23 minutes drive from Chico mid-town. Maybe they can find a friend to drive them down and back, or rent a car, if it works out less expensive than the parking lot!

Fitz, I have literally become obsessed with flipflops this summer. I think it is a substitute for what I really want which is to be barefoot in the sand on Maui. So every week I go to TJ Max or Marshals and get another pair. Its really not my fault that they have designer shoes for 1/4 the price! Today I bought little slipons with this little plaid half bow thing that will match nothing I have but they are soooooo cute and I got them for 30.00 at Marshalls......they were 75.00 at Nordstroms!
