Pacific Beach Hotel, Waikiki Beach

We are trying to choose a hotel for our Honeymoon in April 2006. We are on a limited budget and have found the Pacific Beach Hotel within this budget (We have also looked into the Renaissance Ililiac Waikiki Hotel and the Outrigger Reef on the Beach both of which are affordable). We are both unsure about the accomodation due to the conflicting arguements on trip advisor reviews. We don%26#39;t mind being near a lively atmosphere but would also like to be able to access quiet areas if the want occured.

Any advice from anyone? Please!

being how there is major renovation project just across

the street from the Outrigger Reef Hotel.

known as the Waikiki Beach Walk Project with noise dust etc

I recommend the Pacific Beach Hotel. had a nice stay there.

or the Ilikai Renaissance.

but not the reef unless they were to cut a really good deal.

good luck

Pacific Beach Hotel, Waikiki Beach

Hi lloydandrews,

We have just returned from 12 nights at Pacific Beach Hotel for our wedding %26amp; honeymoon. This was our 2nd stay at this hotel and both times we have found it fantastic.

Depending on your budget, they have 2 towers being the Oceanarium Tower which is the higher one at the back and then the Beach Tower at the front.

Our first trip in 2001 we had a Partial Ocean View room in the Beach Tower (room 1003) which was nice, however if you can afford it then go the Oceanfront Rooms in the Beach Tower. This is where we stayed this time May 05 (room 823) and the rooms are lovely and spacious, clean and the view is magnificent. I have not stayed in the Oceanarium Tower but I have read nice reports about it as well.

No matter what you pick, all the rooms are good sizes, clean and comfortable. You are right opposite Waikiki Beach, and only a short walk to the International Market Place %26amp; great restaurants. It is a little quieter than the Outrigger Hotel as this is right in the middle of the action.

Have a honeymoon %26amp; enjoy Hawaii

If I were in your shoes, I would pick in this precise order...

Pacific Beach Hotel first, Outrigger Reef Hotel second, and Ilikai third.

Reef currently has nearby street construction, and Ilikai hasn%26#39;t been updated and maintained in compariosn to other hotels thru these past decades, and even has junk restaurants on the premises. Part of the Ilikai has been liably sold off to private ownership condo suites like part of the Hilton Hawaiian Village was for time shares. However the Hilton Hawaiian Village still maintains beautiful grounds-premises and excellent restaurant eats. Pacific Beach is centrally located near lively action, but has lots of easy available parking, one block from the beach and is quiet upstairs in the suites.

Thanks everyone for all the help and info. It has really helped me make a decision, especially about the insider stuff to do with Outrigger and Renaissance Ililiac.

P.s. I%26#39;m glad you%26#39;ve said the Pacific Beach Hotel as it%26#39;s also the cheapest! I know, what a cheap skate, but this way we can use our extra money towards other luxery%26#39;s such as spa treatents, trips etc.

By the way, does anyone know waht the spa treatments are like at the Pacific?

Can anyone reccommend any day trips/excursions to do?

My previous comment regarding the partial timeshare at the Hilton Hawaiian Village was taken as a reference from a previous informative poster titled: ';Studio at Hilton Hawaiian Village'; by JOHNW1952 from North Ireland, dated on 6/5/05 at 10:48 am. (John was inquiring whether he should buy a timeshare studio in the Kalia Tower at the Hilton Haw%26#39;n Village.) Not to be confused with the popular Rainbow Tower that we all know of.

I think it%26#39;s good common sense to funnel your financial funds $ appropriately. Best bang for the buck. Especially since no one stays long in their hotel rooms with all that there is to see and do out there. I do not think you are cheap. No shame in being smart with good common sense.

Royal Hawaiian Hotel-Pink Palace, Diamond Head Artesian Well Tour, Hiking Diamond Head, Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Beach %26amp; the Naditorium, Waikiki Aquarium, Ala Moana Shopping Center, Kahala Mandarin Hotel with the penguins %26amp; dolphins, Waialae Country Club, Hanauma Bay, Sealife Park, Makapuu Beach, Sandy Beach, Sherwood Forest, Lanikai Beach with the 2 Mokulua Islands-seabird and reef santuary, Kailua Beach, Byodo-In Buddhist Temple-Valley of the Temples, Kualoa Ranch %26amp; Park with the Alii fishpond, Sacred Falls, Polynesian Culture Center, Turtle Bay Resort, Kuiilima Point, Waimea Bay, Waimea Falls Park, Shark%26#39;s Cove, Sunset Beach, Haleiwa, Matsumoto Shaved Ice, Dole Plantation, Mokuleia polo and Waianae Ridge Peacock Flats, Yokohama Bay, the various heiaus on the Ewa side, Paradise Cove, Pearl Harbor, Chinatown, Manoa Falls, Paradise Park, Fort Street, King Kamehameha Statue, Iolani Palace, Iolani Barracks, Kawaihao Church %26amp; the Missionary Houses, Aloha Tower, Hawaii Maritime Center, Pali Lookout, Washington Place, Queen Emma Summer Palace, Bishop Museum, Punchbowl Cemetary, and Tantalus Drive %26amp; Lookout.

I%26#39;m so glad to hear favorable things about the Pacific Beach Hotel! We%26#39;ll be there in 8 days ~ cannot wait!!! If we try the spa services while we%26#39;re there, lloydandrews, I%26#39;ll make sure to post about them.

Aloha!

Rainforest Spa @ Pacific Beach is nice.....it%26#39;s next to the swimming pool on the 4th floor of the Oceanarium Tower %26amp; 5th Floor of the Beach Tower.

While we were there I had a theraputic pedicure %26amp; manicure which went for about 90 minutes, cost $100. My husband had a 30 min foot massage which cost $50. We both had lovely therapists and the treatments were very relaxing.

Some of their services can be expensive, but it depends on what exactly you are after. If you have a look on the Pacific Beach website www.pacificbeachhotel.com you can click on the link to the Rainforst spa which lists all their services.

Tours, some good ones are Grand Cirlcle Island tours, Stars %26amp; Stripes tour of Pear Harbour with Roberts of Hawaii and if you can afford it go see the volcano%26#39;s on the Big Island it is an awesome sight.

Enjoy

I have stayed at the Pacific Beach Hotel three times since August 2001 and each time have had a great time. Most recently my family and I (three adults and three children) stayed for ten nights in May 2005 and once again had a fantastic time.

The rooms are spacious, clean and housekeeping do an excellent job. The Pacific Beach Hotel is also in a great location straight across the road from Wakiki Beach and within easy walking distance to everything.

We have stayed in the Beach Tower each trip and twice have had oceanfront rooms which have spectacular views of the ocean and the magnificant sunsets each evening.

As mentioned in several other posts there is a major renovation/demolition occuring near the Outrigger Reef at the moment. I%26#39;m not too sure how long this is expected to last.

On our next trip to Hawaii we would definately stay at the Pacific Beach Hotel again

We are staying at Pacific Beach also, in August. I%26#39;m just wondering if I do have a choice which tower to take at check in? We have an ocean view room....any suggestions?
