Help with airfare

Has anyone found for under $700.00 from Seattle to Maui. I am getting nervous as we plan on leaving for Maui on March 31st or April 1st and I have checked all the airlines and no one has any cheap fares. NW has the cheapest right now but with their finanical troubles and now a possible strike with flight attendents and pilots I would be worried about booking with them. Any help would really be appreciated.

When I posted earlier everyone said I was booking too soon but now 3 months away and no flights, is it still too early and should I continue to check?

stitcher, I would check daily several times a day, (I even check several times an hour.) I usually check Orbitz website. Have you checked Hawaiian Airlines? They usually have specials out of Seattle, I thought...

good luck,

Help with airfare

For anyone that has purchased fares from Seattle to Maui lately, can you tell me what the price of the fares were? We are going with another couple and since they are teachers we aren%26#39;t able to be flexible on our dates. The lowest fares are for Tuesday or Wednesday departures but even those are running about about $700.00.

Many of the airlines have too many stops or way too many hours between flights. We don%26#39;t want to leave in the morning and arrive in Maui at 10PM. Direct flights with Hawaiian are over $1000.00.

Is there any hope for a descent fare? I am beginning to think not.

Look at www.travelzoo.com under airfare, and vacations specials under Hawaii. The vacation specails can be inclusive of air/car/hotel/extras or just 2 of those.

You should definitely hold off on buying tickets for a month or so!!!

A month back, I looked at prices from Seattle %26lt;-%26gt; Maui and found that for end of January were in the $450-$500 range which is about where prices have been the past year or so. At the same time, I compared prices in February - April and found them to be all over $650.

Well, my plans changed and I had to move my flight to end of February. This week, I went to check on these fares and found flights to be around $500 (whereas a month ago they were over $650).

I don%26#39;t know what%26#39;s up with those fares, but maybe it%26#39;s because of spring break? Easter isn%26#39;t until April 16th.... I don%26#39;t know if you%26#39;ll find much better holding out until next month but good luck.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions on air fare. I will be checking fares until the end of the month and if they don%26#39;t come down to a reasonable amount we will not be going to Maui this year. I just can%26#39;t believe it when I see fares for as high as $1100.00 for coach seats. We usually go to Mexico in March or April and have always been able to get fares in the $400.00 range. Can%26#39;t see paying over $550.00 from the west coast to Maui. We were hoping to use our miles from Alaska Air with one of their partner airlines but found out there is nothing at all available where we can use our miles and justify the high fares by purchasing just one ticket.

I am looking at flying straight from Chicago and the lowest I found a few weeks ago was around $1000. I will search this week and see what I come up with. This is for mid August. This was flying from Chicago to Honolulu, then to Maui, and Maui to Chicago on United.

Try not flying straight to Maui. Fly to Honolulu instead, which is the big hub.. then buy the $80 one-ways from Honolulu to wherever else. Often, the difference in your main flight is more than $80, so it%26#39;s worth paying for the layover.

I%26#39;m currently looking at ~$700pp flying to Honolulu from Boston this summer. Anyone think I will be able to beat that long term, or should I pounce??

john, this is a pretty good rate out of Boston. Out of Palm Beach Int%26#39;l, FL, we usually pay around $685 to $780. This is roundtrip to Maui.
