Has anyone stayed here recently. We have a chance for a one week stay. We are very serious amature photographers and really look forward to shooting Kauai. We will also be going to Maui for a week ( 3rd time there)
Thank you

Makai Club
JBSOX,
The reviews are not good. Seems to be the most run down condos in area and some mold problems. If it%26#39;s free you may consider it. If it%26#39;s privately owned you mayhave a chance. The area around it is beautiful however. It just kills me becasue of course you can find great deals for the Makai club on skyauction.

Makai Club
My husband and I stayed at the Makai Club in Princeville last July (2004) and I have to say that when we first pulled up to the unit I was scared ... very scared! However, once entering the unit the fear disappeared. All the furnishings were new and although the kitchen had not been update as of yet, it was still up to par. We stayed in unit 610 with a beautiful view of the mountains and a somewhat view of the golf course.
The one negative thing we found about the unit was that there was only an air conditioner in the bedroom (thankfully!). It was not bad until about 5 PM when the sun shone directly into the unit and then the heat was almost unbearable. By day two we just made sure that we were not in the unit that time of day!
We enjoyed our stay and the privacy that the Makai Club offered.
We are returning next month (Oct 2005) for our 20th anniversary and we are staying in the 900 building which has an incredible view of a waterfall.
Do not miss a trip to Polihale State Park which ends at the beginning of the Napli Coast. It is a bumpy pothole filled 1/2 hour drive so be careful but, the best place on the beach to enjoy the views of the Napli Coast and Niihau ~ the ';Forbidden Island';.
I have some good pictures of the unit at Makai Club so, just email me @ Rest4Less@aol.com with Kauai in the subject line and I can send you some pictures.
There are two properties: 1) The Makai Club at Princeville and 2)The Makai Club Cottages. There are in the same location. The Makai Club at Princeville appeared to resemble 3-level apartment buildings. We stayed at the Makai Club Cottages. Each of the Makai Club Cottage units is a separate house. I say house, because they are large. We had a 2-level, 2 bedroom/2 bath cottage and it was huge. It had 2 master bedrooms, 3 tvs, ceiling fans, 2 laneis (porches), washer/dryer, full kitchen. It did not have air conditioning and it didn%26#39;t need it (late December). One of the bedrooms had a very large 2-person shower (2 shower nozzles!) and the other has a separate tub and shower. The property is older (70%26#39;s, early 80%26#39;s??), but still very nice. Our cottage was on the golf course (I think most of the cottages are). And you also have access to the other Pahio resorts for the extensive list of activities that are posted. Pahio Sheerwater has internet access (wireless and a computer). The resort charges $14 a week resort fee. This includes use of all beach supplies (mats, coolers, etc.). There is also an endless supply of free mai tais at all of the Pahio resorts. There is also a rice cooker for those who want to prepare meals. This is not usually an item that I find in a fully equipped kitchen in the US. Hanalei Bay and Princeville Resort are nearby. (Be sure to go the Farmer%26#39;s Market and the Dolphin fish market). So overall, dated but very nice. Enjoy!
