Looking for advice on how to do this-book through an outfitter or on our own. Any advice would be appreciated. There will be 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 teens. Everyone is active and in good shape.(if that makes any difference!)
wailua kyak trip to falls
Hi, we rented a two seater Kayak through Kayak Kauai. They%26#39;re located about a mile from the Wailua River inside the Coconut Market Place. It%26#39;s a lot cheaper than going on a guided tour, plus we were able to take our time. They will provide you a map to the Secret Fall. Reservation is a must, cause theres a limit on Kayakers that are allowed on the river per day.

thanks for the feedback. Do you think we can wait until we arrive on Kauai before making a reservation? Were you able to transport the kayaks to the river without too much trouble? or did they transport them for you? By the way, sorry about the misspelling of ';kayak';.
I would make the reservation prior to leaving the mainland, just to be sure. They will load the Kayak for you on top of your car and show you how to tie it down, you%26#39;ll have to do it yourself coming back. Its really easy, plus the boat launch is only a mile away.

We used Wailua Kayak adventures which is also located about a mile (at most) from the river, a bit further than the Coconut Marketplace on the other side of the road. We actually called them the morning we wanted to go and they had space for us but I believe this particular company can only let about 10 people out a day so you probably should book in advance to be safe if you decide to use them. They secure the boat to your car, give you directions to the river and a map that shows you how to get to the falls. I can%26#39;t remember how I found them...probably in the Ultimate Kauai book. We didn%26#39;t want to do a guided tour and it worked out really well. We did it at our own pace and ate the lunch that we packed at the falls.
