Has anyone stayed at the Maui Schooner. We will be there from Oct. 8 to the 14th. Heard they don%26#39;t have a restaurant or bar and they are not near the beach that is usable. We go to Hawaii quite often but have never stayed here. Stayed in Honolulu, Kona, Molokai and Kuai and loved them all.
The Maui Schooner
hi terri, I have friends who have a timeshare there and they really really like it. They stay there all the time and have never complained. The beach is quite rocky there and I wouldn%26#39;t recommend that area for swimming. For swimming, I would recommend Keawakapu Beach in Kihei about 10 minute drive south. You are right, that there is no bar/restaurant on the premises, but there are several bars / restaurants less than 10 minutes up the street on South Kihei Road. (Kalama Village, Shops at Wailea, Azekas) Have fun, I hope this helps.
The Maui Schooner
Thank you so much that was really helpful.
Terri, I read some reviews on the Schooner under Trip Advisor and it got some good reviews. I think there was one bad review that they didn%26#39;t recommend street side. I lived on South Kihei Road near the Schooner and the street wasn%26#39;t too loud for me. Actually I didn%26#39;t notice the sounds of cars, maybe because my tv volume was too loud!
We own there, have stayed twice. Very nice. Well maintained and clean. Hope you have a unit in the A building facing the ocean. Others are ok too. Beautiful public lawn with tennis courts between it and the beach. Never people on it. Definitely small and quiet. Beach is not good for swimming, but plenty of good beaches within 15 minutes at Wailea, Makena, etc...
Hope you enjoy
thank you gja
Thank you everyone for your comments, I did stay there and was disppointed.
It is mostly for families with children, older couples or couples who want to be really alone. You definitely need a car because there is no restaurants nearby and the beach on the property is full of seaweed, you can%26#39;t use it, so you have to drive a few miles down the road to the beach. The bedroom windows face the hallway and stairwells so you hear all the noise and let me tell you it was noisy, late at night when you are trying to sleep people are returning from their evening out and they are lous. There is only 1 air conditioner in the living room that does not reach the bedrooms so they give you a fan which does not work that well.
We asked for an A building which everyone recommend we do and they would not give it to us. It seems anyone going on a timeshare gets the B Building. The staff was not very friendly, they were very cold. The only friendly person was the the activities director.
The place is very clean, they only clean your room twice while you are there.
We would not stay there again. It%26#39;s listed as a 5 star but it is not.
