clothing for bike ride

We have reservations for a bike ride down the volano. The tour we are doing is one that begins at 9:00 AM and we spend the day going down the volcano at our own pace. What clothing do you suggest we where for this ride? I know it%26#39;s chilly at the top of the volcano but what will it be like as we go lower?

We did the Sunrise trip and yes it is cold. I wore a pair of board shorts and a pair of sweat pants over them. I found that to be plenty enough clothing and half way down I took off the sweats. Remember you will be physically active so you don%26#39;t want to wear anything to heavy or you will start to get to hot.

We did the later bike ride with Maui downhill. They offered gloves, a jacket %26amp; windpants. It was windy %26amp; in the 50ties at about 9:45 am on top of Haleakala. We brought our own windsuits %26amp; wore them till we were about 1/3 way down. We then peeled off to shorts %26amp; t-shirts. The only thing we might have done differently was take the offer of gloves. Our hands got a little bit cold for the first third of the ride.

Thanks for the input. I assume you brought a backpack or some sort to put this shed clothing in? Did you do the Super Summit Tour? That is the one we are scheduled to do and I%26#39;m just wondering what you thought of it.

Yes, we took a backpack for the windsuits we took off, and our odds %26amp; ends (bottle of water, camera etc.). Some kind of small duffel or backpack will work. Like I said, the tour company will probably offer you jackets, windpants, gloves etc. We used Maui Downhill, but I don%26#39;t remember the name of the tour. We were picked up about 8:00 am %26amp; got to the top of Haleakala around 9:45 am. We ended the tour at a beach about 2:30 or so. We had a blast. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

We brought a backpack also. I am not sure what the name of our tour was but they picked us up at 3:00 am, yes thats right 3:00 am. We did the sunrise tour so they want to make sure you are there on time for the most beautiful sunrise you will ever see. If it%26#39;s not too late I suggest you switch to the sunrise tour. It is early but you can take a nap in the van on the ride up. You will not be disapointed and you will still have most of the day to take a nap on the beach.
