3RD OF JULY INDEPENDENCE DAY FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA

Celebrate our independence day with your whole family with live entertainment on multiple stages, a fashion show, an appearance by the ladies of Ms. West Oahu, cotton candy %26amp; popcorn, face %26amp; hair painting, balloon artist, and a dazzling fireworks finale at 8:45pm. Fireworks are shot off Kapahulu Pier and light up Waikiki skies and may be viewed anywhere along the beach, best from the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel to Kapahula Pier (wall).

The biggest show is probably going to be at the Ala Moana park. Most years the put on a great show which can be seen from the Hilton lagoon or you can go into Ala Moana park and watch from there. Parking at the park will be hard on the 4th, so best to walk or take the bus.

HERE%26#39;S ALISTING FOR THE 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS....

Ala Moana Center: Fireworks will be launched from Magic Island at Ala Moana Beach Park at approximately 8:30 p.m., synchronized to a musical score broadcast on KSSK AM/FM.

Preceding the aerial display will be a free concert starting at 5 p.m. on Ewa parking deck near Sears. Entertainers Imua, Pure Heart and Augie T. will perform.

The concert, to be televised beginning at 7 p.m. on KGMB/CBS, will include Brother Noland, Malani Bilyeu, Danny Kaleikini, Rocky Brown, Melveen Leed, Loyal Garner and more, squaring off in a male vs. female format.

Aloha Tower Market Place: Celebrations start 11 a.m. Saturday and continue to 10 p.m. Entertainment includes a boat show and hair painting. Last year, more than 500 people colored their hair, setting a world record.

Free parking at Pier 2, with free trolley rides available. Fireworks show starts at 8:40 p.m. Call 566-2333.

Kailua: Fireworks begin at 8 p.m. Sunday, with views all along Kailua Beach.

The community also celebrates with a 10 a.m. Monday parade, which will begin near Omao Street, head down Kainalu Drive and end at Kailua Intermediate School.

Pearl Harbor: The Navy and AT%26amp;T celebrate Sunday with a block party and fireworks. The 15-minute fireworks display begins at 8:30 p.m. over the harbor.

Earlier in the day, Pearl Harbor Boulevard will be closed from Merry Point to 11th Street to make room for free entertainment, carnival games, arts and crafts booths, petting zoo and Bounce House, food vendors, more.

Entertainment includes Chinese Lion Dance, Swingwood Revue, Roland Sanchez, Warren Johnson and the Gator Creek Band and Kamalamalama. And for those who can%26#39;t sit still: an obstacle course, trampoline, maze, Climber%26#39;s Paradise Rock Wall, giant slide.

Schofield Barracks: A fireworks show will run about 8:15 to 8:45 p.m. Sunday, with viewing from Sills Field.

Performances by the Krush, S.O.S. and DisGuyz beginning at 3 p.m. Other activities include a craft fair, new-product bazaar, game and food booths, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Call 438-1980.

Hickam Air Force Base: Fourth of July Beach Blast at Hickam Harbor, includes entertainment, food and demonstrations, petting zoo, skateboarding, carnival. Open to military with ID and guests. Fireworks at 9 p.m. Call 449-2490.

THE MIGHTY MO FOR THE 4TH OF JULY...

The battleship Missouri will host an All-American Barbecue Picnic Saturday through Monday.

The event will be similar to the ';steel beach'; picnics staged by sailors on deployment. An open grill will be set up on the ship%26#39;s fan tail from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day for cooking hamburgers and hot dogs, served with all the trimmings, including corn on the cob, cole slaw and baked beans.

Along with the food, there%26#39;ll be entertainment on deck. Admission is $10; $6 for children. Tours of the ship cost an additional $4. Bring a Pepsi can and receive a $2 discount off admission.

Also on the Mighty Mo: a Fourth of July Dance Sunday. The ship will be open for self-guided tours from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sgt. Willie Barton and the Company B Boogie Woogie Band take the stage with swing music at 7:30 p.m. The band will break for the 8:30 p.m. Pearl Harbor fireworks, then perform until 10:30 p.m.

Tickets for the dance are $25, available at Tower Records and Video stores, Bloch Arena, Blaisdell box office, Sizzler restaurants and the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park. Order by phone through Tickets Plus, 526-4400. Information: 536-7177.

Golf carts decorated as floats, the school%26#39;s ';All American Band,'; teachers dressed as historical American heroes and children with homemade parade favors will all pay tribute to Old Glory tomorrow, 9:50-10:20 a.m. A presentation by students on American flag information will follow.

Independence Day Concert

Marine Forces Pacific Band will perform patriotic and popular music in a free concert in Dewey Square, 6:30 p.m. The band will feature classics such as ';The Stars and Stripes Forever'; and Tchaikovsky%26#39;s ';1812 Overture,'; which will be accompanied by ceremonial cannon fire.
