Thinking about a rafting trip vs. catamaran for the access into smaller coves, etc. for snorkeling. Any tips?
Blue Water Rafting
I agree with you. I think I will try that this year as well. I would like advice on this as well.
Blue Water Rafting

Repeej, as if I didn%26#39;t know better!
There is blue water rafting trips right there at the launch in Kehei. Right next to the teepee hut you are renting.
They are very nice and they feed you well. If you pay for the shorter trip they will probably get you upgraded to the longer trip anyway (as they did us....but you know what a great first impression I make) They will take you anywhere you want to go, in fact they will ask you, so make a list.
One caution is that the rafting portion is not for those with hip or back problems or pain in the butts. It is like riding a bronco, which is much worse than tipping a cow and helping it up.
Most of the women loved the bounce however the men sat in the seating portion of the boat and huddled together, including my son. I think it was something about squishing some herniated lower body part.
