looking for opinions on hotels in the Waikiki area with great Hawaiian atmosphere-mostly the grounds, not that particular about the room.
nice hotel with a great Hawaiian atmosphere in Waikiki area?
My absolute favorite hotel in Waikiki is the Hawaiiana Hotel on Beachwalk. It is an older property, a low-rise, with open air front desk %26amp; lobby. The grounds are beautiful - plumeria %26amp; ti trees, flowers, grassy areas, two pools, tiki statues and torches (lit every night). It%26#39;s like stepping back in time and I love it there. They serve complimentary tropical juice %26amp; Kona coffee by the pool every morning. The staff are very friendly %26amp; helpful. The rooms and furnishings are dated, but clean and efficient. There are kitchenettes in every room. The Bus runs just outside the back gate, Kalakaua is only steps away from the front gate and the beach is at the end of the block so you can%26#39;t beat the location. Their rates are really good. Check their website at www.hawaiianahotel.com. I wouldn%26#39;t consider staying anywhere else - unless I won the lottery and could afford the Halekulani (at the end of the block) or the Moana Surfrider!
nice hotel with a great Hawaiian atmosphere in Waikiki area?
It always puzzles me when someone recommends either the Breakers or Hawaiiana as if the other doesn%26#39;t exist. Both are low rise with flowered courtyard and adjacent to each other. I forget the differences between them, but cannot be that much.
Those 2 are your low-price end choices- how high can you go? Hilton Hawaiian Village, the Moana and the old part of the Royal Hawaiian will also do quite nicely, but at a steep price.
we are only staying one night on our way to Maui. Hubby wants to see Pearl Harbor. I have researched some more and see that the Outrigger Waikiki books tours directly from the hotel and you can set it up ahead of time before you get to Oahu. Does this hotel have any nice grounds attached to it????
